Requiem Light is based on a variety of new recording- and sampling techniques some which have never before been integrated in choral sample libraries. The library can literally sound like a real choir and includes both full choir (SATB), divisi groups (males/females) and two solo singers (soprano and tenor) - all recorded in 24 bit / 44.1khz with 1 microphone position (pre-mixed from Requiem Pro (5.1) mics.
REQUIEM was recorded over a period of two weeks in one of the oldest and most known cathedrals in San Francisco. The conductor, Robert Geary, is one of the leading choir conductors in the world and the choir was made by members of his multi-award winning VOLTI choir and members from other renowned choirs. All singers were cherry picked for the project and the choir was specifically assembled for this project, which required an enourmous amount of focus and attention to the smallest details in pitch, volume, intonation and pronunciation.

Welcome to Plucked Piano - a library dedicated to deep sampling of plucked and hammer struck grand piano strings.

The Plucked Piano was created by public demand from our users, since its never been properly deep sampled before. We took a world class piano (same as Emotional Piano) through a humiliating process by recording every string with a custom pick, but with more emphasis on round robin (4 pr. string), since the playing style has a percussive quality to it. The instrument is best described as a hybrid crossbreed between a harp, clavinet, guitar/lute and the unforgettable sound of the harpsichord. In addition we added a bonus hammer-struck articulation, using a custom miniature hammer. The sound has some resemblance to a hammered dulcimer.

The fancy naming and branding of the piano is irrelevant to us. We want the samples and music to speak for itself and we hope it speaks to you too.

The Frame Drum represents one of the most widespread and versatile families of drums – with a history crossing through ancient Middle East, India, Rome and through a variety of Islamic cultures. The Frame Drum defined by the simple characteristic that the width of the drumhead is greater then its depth, but besides from that the Frame Drum comes in thousands of variations. It is known for its distinct sustained sound and its multi-resonant qualities.

The Frame Drum is traditionally tuned with straps or lugs, while others are permanently set at a fixed pitch. Many also incorporate beads, rattles, cymbals, jingles, rings, bells, snares or other accessories, to augment the primary sound and add specialized auxiliary articulations. Some are played with hands, while others use thin sticks, thick bones, soft mallets, combs, brushes and other specialized tools to produce a huge range of unique musical tones and effects. Some members of the Frame Drum family may even lack a striking head and rely entirely on rattles or other elements to produce their sound.

The Tonehammer "Solo Frame Drums" library contains 2 styles of Irish Bodhrán, one African Tar drum and a North American tribal buffalo hide shamanic drum. We captured them in a close dry studio setting, covering both traditional and expanded playing styles and articulations. The first Bodhrán is nearly 3 feet wide, with a massive low end much like a concert bass drum. The second is a deep shelled medium sized drum with powerful, clear tonality. The smallest, a tar drum, has a crisp, sharp ring. Our Buffalo drum has a flat, tight sound with a massive subsonic bass blast.

The library is truly covers the traditional sound of resonating frame drums. The library was also designed to be used in conjunction with our "Epic Frame Drums" library, which is focused on capturing big sound ensemble frames and over 1.100 loops. The two libraries makes the perfect couple, since "Solo Frame Drums" covers some of the more intimate and deep sounds – where "Epic Frame Drums" covers more that brutal, big, bad-ass type of sound used in epic scores.

The Tonehammer "Epic Frame Drum Ensemble" library contains deep sampled Irish Bodhrán drums, North African Tar drums, Egyptian Riqs, Persian Dafs and North American tribal drums. We captured them in a large A-frame chapel for an authentic, naturally massive sound that no artificial algorithmic or convolution reverb can truly simulate. We recorded in divisi and full ensemble groupings and covering both traditional and expanded playing styles and articulations. This library is ideal for powerful epic scoring and any composition that calls for massive sounding percussion.

We also captured a huge bonus collection of +1.100 BPM-based performance loops (80-140 BPM). The loops include automatic tempo-syncing functionality that allows them to be matched to a fairly wide range of custom project tempos.

This library is designed to work with other of our libraries: "Solo Frame Drums" and "Riq Drum", which are a deep-sampled assortments of solo frame drums.
